What’s our deal?

Texas Creative is the world-renowned creative advertising portfolio program based in the Stan Richards School of Advertising & Public Relations at the Moody College of Communication of The University of Texas at Austin. We spend our time brainstorming, conceptualizing, creating, and most importantly, becoming thick-skinned, imaginative creatives who go on to produce some of the industry’s best work.

What makes us special?

This ain’t no pay-to-play program. Texas Creative rewards those who challenge themselves to grow. It begins with a highly competitive application process and continues with selective advancement based on the student’s mastery of the concepts through four portfolio-building classes. Additionally, students of Texas Creative don’t just graduate with pretty collection of their work, but with a college degree from one of the top universities in the world. This program not only prepares people to be amazing creatives, it will test whether their skin is thick enough to even survive. If you choose to apply, know this: you’ll enter with potential but you’ll leave with a portfolio that will impress the best shops in the world.

I want in. What’s next?

The program is open to both undergraduate and graduate advertising majors at UT who are enrolled in or have completed ADV 325 or ADV 387. Applications are typically released during the last week of classes each semester, and can be found in the Stan Richards School of Advertising & Public Relations main office.

What’s the application process?

The application consists of three parts, all designed to showcase your thought processes and ideas to the Texas Creative faculty.

Applicants are presented with a prompt meant to see if they can convey a creative concept in a simple form. The goal is not to make an ad, but to convey a provocative and unique thought. You’ll want your answer to be quick, insightful, original and universal.

How many do we take under our wing?

While there isn’t a fixed number, generally around 40 applications are accepted to begin each Fall and Spring semester.
